Thursday night, my first job was to fold table numbers and punch holes in the cards that were going to be used for the coat check. I love little jobs like that, where I can stay in one spot and slowly see how my "To Do" pile is shrinking in comparison to my "Finished" pile.
Angela painted while I punched, and then I joined her with a paintbrush. We were in a classroom with a lot of "fun-fumes!" ha ha Not like we needed fumes to have a good time. We had each other laughing so hard. I was merely painting a makeshift podium, she was artistically creating the skyline of a city. :O Sometimes she had to stop b/c she was laughing so hard her hand wasn't steady enough to do what she wanted it to do. Ooops!!
The whole time I was painting, I kept hearing my dad say: "It's all in the wrist! Nice 'n Easy! Keep it smooth!" Ahhhhhh I thought I was going to go out of my mind. I didn't have to make this podium perfect. We were just going to use it at the entrance to give the appearance of a fancy restaurant. Jerry walked in at one point and said I was going to retire on the job and not be done. In the end I did get the outside down and Gerilynne (sp?) finished the inside. :) Jerry said just to throw the paint on b/c it was just going to be a "one-night-stand!" Seriously, he always has a joke ready to be shared!
After the painting was over Angela and I moved to the next phase. We measured and cut rolls of plastic to be extended from the ceiling by wire. Some men from the church were in the gym on scaffolding hanging the wire while we were painting / cutting the plastic. It was quite overwhelming, for me.
That night I got home around 11 ish and I had to work on the jackets I was sewing for Jordyn and myself. I really wasn't that far along, but I couldn't see it taking more than a few hours. I told myself I'd work on it til 1 and then go to bed. Well, 1 turned into 2, 2 turned into 3, 3 turned into 4, 4 turned into 5, 5 turned into 6. Knowing I had to be back up to the church at 9 I figured I better get to bed. I slept for about an hour and a half and then got up again. Let me tell you, I was dragging. I don't even remember what I was doing until 6!! I didn't finish Jordyn's jacket, and I didn't even start on mine! I know a lot of it was pinning the pattern to the material and cutting it out - that always takes forever - mostly b/c I hate doing it.
And that's where Thurs. night / Fri. Morning ends

LOVE all the pictures! Maybe someone from church can email you a few of the finished product. Maybe Angela? I still can't believe all the work that went into this...it's like a wedding! Can't wait for the next (several) installements! ;)
