Jingle Bells

The other day at school one of my 2nd graders asks me if I want to hear the "kid" version of Jingle Bells. I told him sure -- I did NOT expect to hear this:

"Dashing through the snow

on a pair of broken skis

Going really fast,

crashing into trees

The snow is turning red,

I think I might be dead

Now I'm in the hospital

with stitches in my head!"

I was laughing so hard, he started laughing and couldn't even sing the chorus. I wrote down the words so I could blog it - b/c something this good just can't be kept to ones self - but what I didn't expect was part II the next day!!! Before I had a chance to type this out, my student and his older sister came up to me with a new twist to the chorus:

O Jingle Bells

Jared smells,

Kaden laid an egg

Alec thinks

and Levi stinks

and the teachers all shout

FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!

Ok, again - laughing so hard they couldn't finish. Come to find out, this was as far as they'd gotten, but still - that was just over breakfast!! I think we may have some child prodigies on our hands!! ha ha ha Or, maybe just some really, really, really funny kids. But that may be due to the fact that they're stuck in school with ME all day!! ha ha Another good possibility of why I laughed so much is b/c these kids' names aren't just names - I know each one - and it was funny to imagine these kids and what was being said about them. I also could virtually see the teachers being goofy and yelling FIRE IN THE HOLE!!! I love funny moments!! :)
