Ready or not - here I go!!
The weather is so gorgeous today that I have made up my mind. When I go home, I'm washing and packing up my winter clothes, and all my summer clothes are coming out of hiding!! :D woo-hooooooo

For the last hour I took my class outside to do our reading. Surprisingly, they did well. It helps that only 1 car drives by every 8-15 minutes! Can you believe that within the first 15 minutes I got BIT by something!! I have no clue what it was either!!! There's a mark on my cheek and I asked my first graders if they could see it. Of course they just thought it was a pimple!! I don't think I've ever had a pimple on my cheek; forehead and chin YES, cheeks - not so much!
We're reading Aesop's Fables in 1st Grade and today we read about the Raven that wanted to have white feathers like the Swan. He swam and swam and swam b/c he thought that would change his color. Well, it didn't, and he decided to go be with the Ravens b/c then his color looked shiny and beautiful. The moral was we should be content with how God has made us.
This is the conversation I had with one of my students after we finished the story.
Me: "We should be happy/content with how God has made us. Should I be sad b/c I'm short?"
Student: "Well you're really not. You're tall - but we'll probably be passing you up!"
:D ha ha ha :D
Another funny moment!
Out of nowhere one of my 1st Graders says: "Miss Orr!! Are my teeth crooked!?!??"
He smiles really big and scary in order to show me ALL his teeth!
Uhh, this totally caught me off guard. But I said, "Uh, no!"
Then he says: "Phew! I won't need cavities then!!"
Ha ha h aha :D :D ha ha I think he meant braces!! But I just let it alone!!

Oh, the rewarding and funny moments of teaching. I miss those moments, but others....not so much. :)
