Wednesday 10-11-06

Wednesday was a very full day. First we went to the office to get my longer pass so I wouldn't have to keep getting daily ones. I've heard people say being in the military means get in a line. I guess there's lines for everything. Well, there was definitely one at the office that day, so Arlene and I went to the Mokuteki to get lunch (to-go) to save on time. Oops! When we got back Nathan said he had to let people skip him b/c we had taken so long. We had walked the few blocks to the restaurant -- we would have made better time if we had driven, but the walk was nice.

Nathan and I finally went up to the window and after the questions were answered, the id's shown, the signatures penned, and the oath sworn, I was handed my official one month pass which stated I did not have to be accompanied by my sponsor. :) (I'm not sure if I can post the pass or not. To be on the safe side, I'm not going to until I ask Nathan. If you don't see it posted you'll know why. Of course, if you look at my Japan scrapbook you'll see it.)

After that it was off to the Statue of Liberty Park. It's a little odd that Japan has such a park, but I enjoyed it. I was a little ashamed that I haven't gone to visit my own Statue of Liberty in New York, so I think that's next on my list of things to see. We ate are delicious wraps from the Mokuteki in the car. That was hilarious. Nathan drives fast even when he's eating. Nothing slows that boy down!

This is the map of the park. Of course, since it's written in Kanji we pretty much had to wing-it! ;) Nathan knew where we were going and what we were doing, so it was fine.

My first shot of Miss Liberty.

A little closer.

Wow! Just looking at this pictures reminds me of what she represents standing there so tall, and what it cost (and is costing) my fellow Americans to keep the freedoms the Lord has bestowed upon us. Posted by Picasa
