*From My Journal 10-5-06*

*Some thoughts from my journal*

"I am in the air! No turning back now.

The take off was shown on a flat monitor. I didn't enjoy that so much. It reminded me of a high speed chase you see on t.v.

I then saw something I haven't really taken time to look at. The trees all around have turned colors. I remember hearing the crunching sound of fallen leaves underfoot---and seeing soggy ones in the driveway. I always try to get up to a high spot in fall to take in the view. West Virginia was gorgeous, then Holy Hill, and now a view from the sky - you can't beat that.

It looks like God has been "baking clouds" today. whenever you make cookies you put a tbsp of batter on a cookie sheet 2" apart. There are dallops of clouds all lined up like cookie batter. Man - now I'm in the mood for a cookie!! ;)

I'm really tired. I pulled out my neck pillow & Josh Groban is singing me to sleep. I caught a glimpse of the stewardess handing something to the passengers in front. Intrigued, I waited for her to come to my row. She handed me awhite cloth w/a small paire of tongs. I took it and it was a hot wash cloth. I started to wipe my hands with it, and then I saw the lady next to me put it on her face - so I did the same until the cloth cooled. At first it felt good, but then my face really started tingling......and now I need moisturizer!! :O They came around with baskets & I put my cool cloth in it.

Now they're serving food but I'm full-think I'll pass...plus I've taken NO pepto & all the labels are in Japanese. (Ewww - Someone just got a "drink" YUCK! I can smell it!)

I was counting on not being able to see the ocean, but we've been flying for about 40 minutes & I can still see the ground. -- Uh -Oh!

I just got some "otsumami" (Nuts & Crackers) for the lady next to me. In Misawa it is 2 a.m. so I am going to get some shut eye now. This flight is suppose to be a little over 12 hours with some expected turbulence. " *

Below are how I described the different views from the air:

*City patterns
Quilt like Patches
Vein like
Snowcapped Mountains*

More from my journal:

*My windows are very HOT -- I have the shades pulled and I still think I'm getting sunburnt! :)

I have actually fallen asleep twice! :) From about noon to 1:15 and then from 3-5:40 (I think). It is now 9. I tried resting after talking to my new friend Eiko, but Vivaldi didn't put me to sleep like earlier. The sun is still shining bright. I know b/c I keep opening my shade to check on it! ;)

When I woke up at 5:40 they were serving a snack. I got 2 - 1/4 sliced of sandwhiches; one was han & cheese - the other egg salad....I think. The ham was my favorite. I also drank Apple Jukce - when she poured it I saw "Minute Maid" so I felt very relieved.

I haven't felt any turbulance....not extreme anyways. An announcement is what woke me the very first time I fell asleep. I was a little upset b/c it took me so long to drift off and just like that it was all over.
