Every year at Thanksgiving, our church has a "Pie Social." Last year, my first year here, I missed it b/c I went home for Thanksgiving. This year, while trying to live a little more frugally, I've decided to stay here for this holiday, and go home for Christmas.
I was endlessly harassed last year concerning events at church that involved food. It seemed like I missed every single one. Either I happened to be visiting my parents or I was deathly ill. Whatever the case, I don't think I made a dish for a potluck Sunday (which we have once a month), until I'd been living here for at least 6 or 7 months!!
Now that I've ventured into bringing a dish to pass at our potlucks (and trust me I pray VERY hard I don't make anyone sick. Mostly for selfish reasons though. You see, if I got teased endlessly PRIOR to bringing food, can you imagine the torment I'd have to endure after COOKING food and poisoning someone!?!?!), the time has come for me to bake a pie.
humph How does one go about creating something they've only ever purchased by the slice at Baker's Square?? Yeah! No clue! At times like these I really, really miss the city.
My sister told me about a great pie she found online, so I looked it up, and I printed off the recipe. I'm a little leery though. You see, just yesterday, I brought a chicken pot pie to school, for lunch. I BURNT IT ... IN THE MICROWAVE!!!! How does one accomplish such a thing?? I don't know. My talents exceed even my own expectations!!
The really sad thing is, if by some form of a glorious miracle, I actually pull off creating something edible - I'll have NO proof. (I guess the proof would be in human life still existing at church - but that's not what I mean.) I accidentally left my battery charger, and my one "Charged" battery at my parents. No Kodak moments here.
Wednesday is the big day. I'm not even a big fan of pies. Why can't we have a BROWNIE social??? Mmmmmm Moist, warm, ooey, gooey brownies with a cold glass of milk!!!!!! Man! I'm licking my lips just thinking about it, and I don't even have any brownies I can make when I get home. *sniff*
Stay tuned for the outcome of "Operation Chocolate Pie"

I can make a pie, but have yet to make a crust by myself. I would cheat and buy a ready made crust, then use a recipe that doesn't need a top crust! :)
