No Class Miss Orr

One nice thing about a small class - the odds of getting a day off (due to illness, ect.) increase.

Today is a very snowy day. Not too cold - but very, very white! One of my parents called early to tell me their son was sick and wouldn't be in school. Right before I left, another parent called me to tell me their son was sick and wouldn't be in school. Hmmmm Adding that together with the one student who is out of state visiting grandparents leaves me with a total of one student for the entire day. Wow! I thought, this is going to be more like a tutoring session, which is fine, but a little odd.

I braved the terrible roads - tires even spinned a little - and finally arrived at school. One of my parents was behind me, and when I got out of my car he asked why I had brought in all this white stuff. Yeah - like this was MY first choice!! I said, well it looks like your son is going to be only student today. He looked at me and said his son wasn't here today b/c over the weekend they were loading wood and something got in his eye. This morning the surrounding area of his eye was all red, and they were going to take him to the Dr. today!

So I have a day off - but I feel terrible. Two of my kids are in bed (or laying on the couch watching cartoons); one is probably getting his eye flushed out right now, screaming at the top of his lungs (Ok, so maybe he's a little more brave than I am - but I can't even swim under water with my eyes open - therefore, I know I would not be a good patient getting debris flushed out!); and my other kid is away from home. *sniff*

So I'm off. I'm going to tweak my lessons plans, now that my week's schedule is off by a day. :( Hope I make it home in one piece. I would say, if I don't blog for a few days send out the search team -- but I know I don't blog regularly as it is, so don't send out the search squad...that would just be embarassing.

Too bad it's not warm and sunny out. I'd love to go for a drive. Maybe soon!! :D

Day offs are nice, especially when they're unexpected... although, it's not nice when you get up early and get ready and go to school... only to find out you didn't *need* to be there, lol. Well, looks as if you made the best of it anyway :~)

Caleb is really enjoying his bath toys, btw. His favorite is the little fish; he crawls into the bathroom just to get that out and play with it -- even when it's not bath time! :~)

Uh, I know "day offs" isn't a word, but I used it anyway, okay? lol
