You know you've been away from civilization when a Wal-mart opens 45 minutes away, and you look forward to jumping in your car and traveling over for its grand opening!!! Well, I have officially entered that category. Funny, I always said, I can see myself never shopping at another Wal-mart for the rest of my life!!! Guess it's like chocolate - addicting!! ;P ha ha
After school today we went to the Grand Opening of a Wal-mart (if you couldn't gather that from the previous paragraph)! Personally, I think they're going downhill. This one didn't have a fabric dept. which I was half expecting, but it was still disappointing. All the aisles seemed really chopped up expect for the food dept. that seemed more normal. It was like a miniature supercenter. The store was really dark too until we checked out. To conserve energy they have skylights, like all new Wal-mart buildings. Only a few lights are on with them, and then when the sun begins to set all the remaining lights turn on. All the lights didn't turn on until we started to leave. It was about 4 in the afternoon and it felt like I was at the store at 10 pm!
There was also a big stuffed tiger or something there for the grand opening - I had 2 of Angela's kids with me - both of whom are TERRIFIED of large stuffed creatures who have freaky smiles and only wave at little children. That's a whole nother blog - but some stories can only be told in person for the full effect - so you'll have to come visit for that one!! ;)
It's been a busy past few days, but it's been good.
Last night I went to the high school's fall choir concert, b/c one of the teens at church is involved in that. It was fun to get out. I also went with her (and Angela) to the high school's Homecoming football game. Yeah, not big into football - I think everyone figured that out when I cheered my little heart out -- -- -- -- for the Opposing team -- -- -- -- TWICE!!!!! Ooops!! In my defense - the one time I really thought the tackle that took place was in our favor -- and the other time -- the player REALLY looked like he had the football under his arm so that's why I was screaming RUN, RUN, RUN, Ya got it, KEEP GOING, RUN, RUN, RUN!!! I didn't realized the player with the ball had been tackled at the other end of the field and we lost the ball!!! It's more embarassing when you yell at a "Live" game, than in the comfort of your own home. Frank, Al, and Dan don't hear if you goof up at home!!
So the last few days/nights have been pretty happening!! It's kind of funny how N O T H I N G happens for days on end, and then all of a sudden, boom, boom, boom things are going on left and right. I think my "busy season" is just around the corner.
This entry was suppose to be about Wal-mart. Ooops!! How'd I get off on all these rabbit trails????
Let's see. Wal-mart. We went, we saw, we bought, we left, and now - we sleep. - goodnight

You should try just yelling only when everyone else is yelling. At least then you're sure to be yelling at the right team, LOL! :P You're not alone in your football ignorance... I never know what's going on, and Nathan is always having to explain things to me! Good news is I think that I finally understand what a down is. It's only taken 8 months, but I really think I've got it! At this rate, I'll understand the whole game by our 50th anniversary! :P
Just tell everyone you're being an exceptionally good sport and cheering for both teams. :)
Will you be doing a study on birds at any time? If so, I have two things I can give to Rebecca to pass on to you. If you don't want them I'll get rid of them. One is a bird's nest which has either animal fur or human hair (like maybe someone threw their hair cutting remainders outside). It's kind of neat. The other is a bird of prey skull. You can see the hooked beak on the front, so it was probably a small hawk. I know that's kind of gross (don't worry, it's clean), but sometimes it really helps the kids to see something like that to help things stick. Just let me know.
We'll soon be driving 30 min. to a Walmart, so we'll be joining your world. It's amazing how exciting something like that can be when there's nothing around for miles on end!
