Trees Down

Thursday we had quite a storm late in the evening. I got off work at 10, and I thought for sure I'd have to drive home in it. The Lord was good though, and it started shortly after I safely made it into the house.

We have a few dead trees in our yard, and I was having a hard time figuring out where to park b/c regardless there are trees EVERYWHERE! Finally decided right behind our "baby" tree, beside the left over stump of the tree that we lost a few storms ago, and in front of a crooked tree that I prayed if it did fall, would fall at this exact angle missing my car.

Went up to my room and started reading while I heard the activities outside picking up. My room lit up a few times and shook w/the thunder. Then I heard it, definite cracking noses. So I went to my window, (My bed is right under my window sill) put my shade behind my head, cupped my hands around my eyes, and stuck my face practically on the window, trying to see if that crooked tree had fallen. Couldn't see anything - too dark. Right then

K A B O O O O O M ! ! !

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I Screamed and flew backwards off my bed, practically flying to my door to run downstairs. If I can explain, I have a single panel glass window meaning if there's a slight breeze outside I feel it. With the thunder it rattles and it just doesn't feel safe (I think they're the same windows originally installed in the 1800's! -- probably not, but that's how it feels!) Just imagine - if you know me, you know my eyes get really big, especially when I'm freaked out about something, and there I was -- seeing my freaked out eyeballs looking back at me as the lightening lit up the sky, and my reflection scared the bejebies out of ME!! (You know the saying - "scared of their own shadow!" guess you could say I'm "Scared of my own reflection!")

Amazingly the storm didn't last that long. Heard rumors winds got up to 80 mph but don't know how much truth there is to that. When I left for work the next morning I felt like I was out in the Amazon. Branches, bark, leaves, twigs, limbs, everywhere - in fact a twig tried to go along to work with me via my wheel-well.

Even though I didn't see much tree downage in my neighbors yards, I'm thankfully noone was injured, no property damaged, or no power failure was caused. I know others around the state weren't so lucky. I thank the Lord for that though - not luck.
