Sunday 10-8-06

Sunday we went to church which is off base. Then after church we went to the LeFave's (Arlene's parents) for dinner. We ate Yakiniku. Seiko put an electric griddle on the table with meat, chicken, onions, and green peppers. We used our hashi (chopsticks) to stir and turn over everything, and then we just took what we wanted to eat. It was so neat. Then of course we ate it with rice, and we also had a salad. For desert we had a delicious cherry cheesecake. MmmmMmmm (I'm getting hungry right now just thinking about it.)

After lunch we went back to the base where I had to get another one-day pass. *sniff* This is a sad moment for me b/c I accidentially gave up my first pass. So I am unable to scrap my very fist One Day pass from Misawa Air Force Base! :(

Then it was off to the bazzar where I made my souvenir purchases I had eyed-up the previous day. That was a different experience. I picked out what I wanted at the individual vendor's tables, then the vendor gave me a ticket, but not my purchases. I took all my tickets from the vendors to a cashier, paid for everything, then had to take my tickets to eat individual table and pick up what I had purchased. Wow! What a lot of work! ;) We were on a short time schedule too, so Nathan and Arlene each took a ticket and we all went to different tables to get what I had purchased. It was kind of fun. Especially trying to remember what item I purchased at which table! ;) A physical and mental workout! :)

After the bazzar shopping (no pun intended) it was off to choir practice. I started to feel the same way I had the night. That's when it hit me. Ohhhhhhh! I'm experiencing jet lag. Since their choir practice is a little long, I made myself comfortable on one of the pews and rested my eyes. I just had my back up against the wall, and my feet up on the pew, don't think I was settling in for the night or anything. I got a little harrassed, but I just told them their singing was putting me to sleep. They all knew it was the jet lag though.

Before church we had gone to the BX where Arlene and I got a Baskin Robins ice-cream, and I got a fruit drink. Since you're not suppose to drink/eat in the auditorium I left it in the car. I forgot all about it until on the way home Nathan took a curve fast and *thunk* I heard something hit the opposite door. As soon as I heard that I remembered I had put my fruite drink on the floor. I reached over for it in the dark, and felt complete wetness! It was bad b/c it didn't have a cap, it had a hole in the top to put a straw, like a slushy drink, so there was this quarter size hole where all the juice was just flowing out freely! :O Nathan had to clean it up for 2 reasons. One, I was the guest, and Two, it was his driving that made the whole incident occur!! ;)

When you described how you had to get a ticket, pay, then go back with the receipt, that reminded me of Asia. That's how they run their department stores. What's worse is that the friend we were with did the whole process, only to find out they couldn't find the silly bowl she bought for an anniversary gift! They finally found it, but the option of backing out to save time doesn't exist. That would certainly take some getting used to.
