"M" as in "M & M's"

Sunday night after church we had a send off for one of our guys who's going off to college this week. We had planned on sending off two of our college guys, but only one could make it. So of course, as good Baptists know how to do, we had plenty of good treats! :D It was announced that those with a last name beginning with an A-L were suppose to bring something salty and those who were M-Z were suppose to bring something sweet. When I got to church I took a quick directory count of the salties vs. the sweets! ;P ha ha The sweets DEFINITELY outnumbered the salties--which I was thankful for b/c I am huge on sweets!

Savannah buddied up with me and we went through the snack line together. I just took one plate and thought we could share. When we sat down I guess this was on Savannah's mind b/c she asked me, "Hey! Where's your plate?!" ha ha I told her we were going to share. It was funny to see her go after her cookies first! So she was having a good ol' time. A couple of cookies, some chex mix, and a piece of cake where her choices. (When I say this, you have to keep in mind, she eats only the cream filling out of oreos and the icing off of cakes, so although it still wasn't a "well-balanced" snack by any means, she wasn't cleaning off the plate.)

Toward the end of her feast Mrs. Jones (Our Pastor's wife) came through with a container of M&M's. She put them on the table, and said she forgot she was suppose to put them out as edible decoration! ;P ha ha Those are the greatest decorations to any kid! (Or me!) Savannah's eyes lit up. And I thought, man, I really shouldn't be letting her have this much chocolate, but the thought quickly past. I figured by the time all that sugar kicked in we'd both be in our seperate homes. (Just as a side note---I was completely wrong, and I was there until she started coming down off the high!)

After eyeing those wonderful chocolatey treats, she quickly pushed her now soggy oreo cookie, and marble cake, naked of its frosting, over to me, and reached for an M&M. She examined it before putting it in her mouth, and said, "What number is this?" Pointing to the M stamped on it. I guess if you put it sideways it does look like a 3, but I didn't go there. I said, "Oh, that's not a number that's a letter. That's a "M" mmmmmmm -- mmmmmmm as in "Mommy!" She looked at the M&M a little longer and then popped it in her mouth. Then she reached for another one, and when she got it, she looked at the M and said, "M" Mmmmmmm -- as in Mine!" HA HA HA HA HA HA :) :D :D :) I had to turn my head to laugh. It was so cute! How does she pick up on these things!? She is one smart cookie! (No pun intended!) She definitely has the letter "M" down! Now we just need to work on the rest of the alphabet. If there were only a sweet treat for every letter in the alphabet we'd be set!

LOL, how funny! I can't believe how much Savannah has grown up; she's not even going to know who we are when we see y'all next year!
